Full leather binding, gilt title, raised bands, decorative gilt borders to the boards, decorated paste downs and end papers, red page edges, gilt dentelles. The words Alleluia, Panem de caelo praestitisti eis. (Thou hast given them bread from heaven), Alleluia, Omne delectamentum in se habentem , (Having within it all sweetness). The binder s initials MKT stamped in gilt to the rear paste down. Dedication from MKT to the owner D Hood Phillips, 1947, to the front free end paper. The binding very much in the style of the Guild of Women Bookbinders, much like Katherine Adams (p138 Women Bookbinders 1880-1920 by Marianne Tidcombe). 160pp including the index. Approximately 6 ½ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt title, three raised bands with gilt dots which have worn off in places, worn top and tail. Joints good condition gently rubbed and worn. Corners good condition gently bumped and worn. Boards good condition full leather binding with decorative gilt border to the upper board with Latin quotes (see above), the rear board has just a single gilt line as the border. Page edges good condition all red. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition sound. Paste downs good condition decorated with a single line gilt dentelle. End papers good condition decorated, some offsetting from the dentelles, subsequent end papers tanned and foxed. Title good condition lightly tanned.
