t.p.+ (4, prelims)+257, all edges gilt, marbled end-papers; 1743-dated ex libris signature top front blank fly, same owner's small ink sig. top t.p., some light foxing to prelims and p.1, brown spotting to lower fourth page of prelims facing p.1 appears to be of different cause though, occ. spots elsewhere, faint dustiness across to margin gutter regions pp.56-59, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked with good marbled end-papers and gutters, numerous engraved head and tail pieces, two subsidiary t.p.s and a 4 pp. Index after p.211, these unpaginated but included in overall pagination as this resumes correctly afterwards; attractibe black leather binding with 1.5 cm. wide gilt floral borders, gilt dec. panelled spine withgilt-lettered red title label just a tad rubbed, marred by a number of rubbing pacthes, esp.to bottom front with some gilt border loss, also two sm.patches top same, back bottom outer corner similarly affected, spine ends and front joint rubbed, plus bumping to outer corners. This all sounds much worse than it is as this remains a very attractive copy despite faults.
