In Hebrew and English, on facing pages, with instructions for the prayers in Yiddish, in small font. 6 leaves are facsimiles: 64, 65, 136, 137, and the last two, unnumbered, leaves, which consist of a one page ?CONTENTS? and a three page "PREFACE." The leaf and page order is as follows: 3 unnumbered leaves, followed by leaves number 3 to 203. The verso of LEAF 203 is PAGE number 204, followed by page numbers 205 to 213, followed by 17 unnumbered pages. Leaves' size is 170 x 102 mm. Book size: 176 x 112 mm. Masterly repairs to leaves 37 to 46. Inscription on verso of English title (the Hebrew text begins here): [?] Avraham bar Uri. Recto of page 2: Abm. Judah [Abm.=?Abraham]. Verso of leaf 202 also has the inscription: Abm. Judah [Abm.=?Abraham]. Old, worn, probably original, leather boards, with traces of gilt boarders on the boards and professionally repaired spine. The Hebrew title page has a publisher?s device and a decorative border. Ornate headpieces and tailpiece, historiated initial. This is the first complete Hebrew-English prayer brook printed in England. It was published for English speaking Jews in the United Kingdom and its American colonies, though America is not specifically mentioned. 119b and 120a have a prayer for the welfare of King George III, his wife, Queen Charlotte von Mecklenburg-Strelitz, and the rest of the royal family. In the preface, the co-translators write of an earlier English translation of the Hebrew liturgy: ?It is true, such a thing has been attempted under the title of Liturgia Judaica, but the manner in which it was effected plainly demonstrates that Gamaliel Ben Pedahzur, either knew nothing of the Hebrew tongue, or that his intention was to throw a ridicule upon the whole Jewish community."
