Rare. In excellent condition save for mild edgewear, store sticker to rear cover. published by JMV Diffusion, France, circa 1980, 66 pages, large softcover, 12" by 8.5". Quadrilingual text in English, French, German and Japanese. Bizarre and fascinating book on Belgium-born and Paris-based artist Nato, documenting a happening at his studio - the naked artist in various entanglements with naked women, masked and painted upon, with music, freeform painting, sex, and a general madcap improvisation. A provocative artist pursuing a Fluxus- and Actionism-inspired art for decades now, underground and largely overlooked, almost always featuring nakedness, and with a curious sideline in music (several superb psychedelic and very rare records from the early 70's). The artist's text helps explain: "Is NATO a pervert, a sexual maniac, simply a specialist of provocation or an inspired artist? NATO is neither an amateur or a professional. Not acknowledged and yet not unknown. NATO assumes his vocation as that of a revealer. He projects his unconscious and his sex to the limits of obscenity, where others fear to tread. Everyday life, transition, uncertainty, the instant are his field of action, the palette of his work." One of few publications on his work, with strong graphic design and superb photos by French photographer Claude Alexandre, among others. N° de ref. del artículo ABE-6179042220017992147
