Pencilled name of Regiment member, John Clampitt, Co. A, 2nd N.J. (listed on pg. 274). CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Cloth lightly rubbed and soiled. Interior front hinge weakened, as usual with this work, else clean. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: The First New Jersey Brigade included the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th, 15th, 23rd, and 40th Infantry Regiments. The author was a 2nd Lt. Co. A, 1st Regiment. This fine book details the military exploits of the Brigade; it remaining intact and consisted entirely of New Jersey soldiers throughout the war. First engaged at Bull Run, the Brigade participated in all the major campaigns of the Army of the Potomac, ending at Appomattox and the Grand Review. Fine history detailing the units. Nice copy with a connection to a veteran of the Brigade.
