Illustrated with photographs. 207 pages. Bound in original blue cloth with black lettering and decorations to the cover of a young trio of youths on the links, and on the spine, a golf bag. Ouimet is singularly qualified to author a book on instruction for children/teens. Written eleven years before he would write his autobiography, A Game of Golf, this book recounts much of the story. Here is the 1913 US Open champion, saying where he came from, how he learned, how he was able to win as a boy, then as a teen, beat the world, represented by Vardon & Ray, in a sodden 18-hole playoff no less. Replete with historic incidences of other youthful winning golfers to stress salient points, Ouimet enticed those champions to join him and others in the demonstrative photographs: Bobby Jones, Chick Evans, Jock Hutchinson. Part autobiography, part biographies, part inspirational psychology, all instructional. Very underrated book in superb collector condition. Covers bright, corners sharp, lettering & illustration completely black, one tiny pin prick (?) into the spine cloth, one light cover scuff. Completely clean, unmarked contents. Scarce unclipped dust jacket chipped upper edges but without loss to lettering spine or cover lettering or illustrations, now protected in mylar. D & M #28500 Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
