Hardcover book in very good condition with green cloth boards and gilt title and banding on spine; Harper & Brothers embossed symbol on lower fore corner of front board; corners square and lightly rubbed; very light shelf wear to head and heel of spine, and edges of boards; light to medium toning to all page edges; text block clean. Dust jacket in fair condition, unclipped with original price of $5.00 intact; shelf wear present at edges and corners; heavily chipped along all edges with small pieces missing at top face and spine heel; colors good with some sunning to spine; interior toned with approximately eight dampening spots; rear panel toned and suntanned; still serviceable. An interesting anthology by the editors of The Land publication comprised of essays, poetry, songs, black and white period photographs, and beautiful pen and ink artwork in the woodcut style. Influential contributors to this important collection include E. B. White, Louis Bromfield, Morris Llewellyn Cooke, Robert Flaherty, Edwin Hubble, and far too many others to list here. The book was published to promote the farmland conservation work of the Friends of the Land Society, a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to extending the livelihood of farms and farming communities in America.
