The original, scarce 2 volume First Edition of 1846. Clean brown cloth, gilt titles and blind-stamped designs to front and rear boards, untrimmed edges, 304pp and 306pp, uncut in places. Volume two of this copy has an interesting 24-page Catalogue of "Valuable and Interesting Books" published by John Russell Smith of Soho Square, London, with sections on Anglo-Saxon Literature, Popular Stories and Superstitions, Philology and Archeology. Tall 8vo volumes with very slight lean to V1 and damage to spine head and foot of V2 as can be seen. Tight bindings with clean pages if a little light upper edge toning. Mild spotting to title page of V2. Plain front end-papers have evidence of label removal (and a little subsequent off-setting to V1) along with a tiny Halifax bookseller's label to verso. Both half-titles are present so complete and suitable for rebinding. V1's nine essays, include Anglo-Saxon poetry, Abelard and the Scholastic Philosophy, Dr Grimm's German Mythology, National Fairy Mythology and Popular Superstitions of Modern Greece. V2 includes Friar Rush and the Frolicsome Elves, Story of Eustace the Monk, old English Political Songs and the Scottish poet, Dunbar. Very good and handsome copies. There may be additional cost for international postage. N° de ref. del artículo 001061
