VERY RARE gilded & embossed illustrated hardcover book, sorry no dust-jacket. "The English Illustrated Magazine - Volume X, 1892-1893". By various Authors & Illustrators. This is the First Edition, published by Edward Arnold, London, 1893. Thick & heavy book. PLEASE NOTE: As this book is heavy (over 1.9 Kg with packaging), if you are buying this from outside the U.K. please expect additional shipping costs. 8vo, 24.7 cm x 17.5 cm x 5 cm, Red leather-bound spine with gilt embossed lettering, Red textured (branch motif) cloth-covered boards, All edges dyed mottled red. 948 pages. Weight: 1.816 Kg. (1816 Grams). CONTENTS ARE ALMOST LIKE NEW!!! However, there is some damage to spine where leather is very scuffed, brittle & worn, some loss at head & tail & hole along its length, binding remains tight! Cover is discoloured & faded, some marks, bumps & scratches, edges worn & bumped. Corners are bumped & frayed, boards exposed there. End papers slightly marked & creased front & rear of book. Crack forming from tail up between Frontispiece & title page. Pages 11/12 and 13/14 have a tiny tear on bottom edge. Page 352 slightly marked & creased. Small tear on bottom edge of p. 853/854. Some pages (very few) have corners folds/creases and/or slight rippling, and/or faint smudges/marks in margins. Light age tanning & occasional foxing throughout, more pronounced on end papers.
