Size of binding: 5 1/8 in. x 7 3/4 in., halftitle, titlepage, contents page, errata page; [1]-322 pp., + [6] pp. ads/opinions for the second edition of "Esmond", + 16 pp. publisher's catalogue, dated: June 1853. Dark blue, textured cloth with a lighter blue marbled design, titling gilt with a design on the spine; terra cotta (red/brown) coated endpapers, with partially visible ink inscription at top of front endpaper: Digby Reeve (?) /56 From [-]; and a recent book label pasted to the front paste-down, bookseller's makings in pencil on reverse of front endpaper; printed binder's ticket on back paste-down: Bound by Westleys & Co. Friar Street London. Spine ends show some wear, with a one inch split to cloth along the front outer hinge at the spine, light wear to hinges, corners, edges, darkening to light blue pattern on spine; some tan spotting, dusting to book edges.
