1947 SECOND PRINTING of First UK Edition. Original pale blue boards with gilt lettering spine. The book has fading to top area of spine, a few faint spots rear cover but covers quite clean, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, light foxing on EPs and title page but no foxing on pages, solid binding. The original dust jacket has crinkles lower rear panel, 1cm chip upper spine, original printed price still present on front flap corner. The book measures 224mm tall x 144mm, and has 274 pages, 43 b/w photos, several sketches, 4 folding maps, index. Author's climbing experiences and his wide ranging travels to climb. He was a British diplomat and good writer. Chapters on Pyrenees, Oxford U Mountaineering Club, Mont Blanc Range, New Hampshire's White Mountains, Colorado Rockies, Canadian Rockies (Ramparts), climbing & skiing in Persia, South Africa, including three chapters of mostly ski-mountaineering content.
