Housman, G. Bernard Shaw, T.S. Eliot and Sir Winston Churchill; autograph letters of William Morris, H.M. Hyndman (on the Socialist movement), Dickens, Trollope, R.L. Stevenson, George Elior, Froude, Ruskin, Thackeray, Gosse, Conan Doyle, Kipling, T.E. Lawrence, Augustus John, G. Bernard Shaw and Lawrence Durrell; fine series of letters from Queen Victoria (to Sir Arthur Helps), Gertrude Stein (to Sir Francis Rose) and T.S. Eliot (to John Middleton Murry); a fine calligraphic manuscript of Edward Johnson; autograph manuscripts, or corrected typescripts, of W.E. The copy of the Head of Sotheby's Book Department A R A Hobson with a note in his hand that he had catalogued lots 1-65 ("The manuscripts and correspondence of Arthur Annesley Robert Firbank (1886-1926) the property of Lt.-Col. Thomas Firbank, M.C.". Most of the Firbank lots are annotated by Hobson with a cross-reference to "The Early Firbank"; one lot which the catalogue describes as unpublished is corrected by Hobson with a note of the publication.
