Printed wrappers, 8vo 40 pp. 668 lots. Vernon Lushington KC (1832 -1912), was a Positivist, Deputy Judge Advocate General, Permanent Secretary to the Admiralty, and was associated with the Pre-Raphaelites. He was a Cambridge Apostle, an early instructor at F D Maurice's Working Men's College, a friend of William Morris and other artists, and both friend and editor of Thomas Carlyle, Among the highlights noted in the sale catalogue were the following: "Classical, Historical and Philosophical Works - Berners Froissart, 6 vols, Tudor Translations - Hobbes Works, by Molesworth, 16 vols - Bentham's Works, by Bowring, 11 vols - the Writings of English Poets - Wordsworth and Coleridge s Lyrical Ballads, First Edition, 1798-Shelley s Poetical Works, 4 vols, Moxon 1839 - Turner s Illustrations to Scott, India Proofs, &c.the property of the Late T.
