Together 74 issues. 8vo., illustrated with photographs in color & black and white. Pictorial wrappers. A near fine set ( mailing label blackend to obscure address, Vol. 31 # 6 has a chip out of the title page) Crown Jewels of the Wire is a magazine dedicated to the collectors of historic glass and porcelain insulators used by telegraph, telephone and electric power utilities.The magazine covers subjects such as book reviews, club news, collector profiles, research articles on insulators and companies, information on all insulators with bimonthly columns devoted to foreign and porcelain insulators, patent information, personal experiences, material from the NIA, data on railroad, telecommunications, reproductions, show reports, and tips. The first issue was published March of 1969. Carol McDougald of St. Charles, Illinois edited the publication from June 1985 through December 2002.Howard Banks of Merlin, Oregon became the magazine's editor starting with the January 2003.
