Brighton Rock, Graham Greene, William Heinemann Limited, 1938, First Edition, First Impression with facsimile Dust Jacket One of the most sought after novels of the twentieth century. Adapted for film in 1947 and 2010, this is a murder thriller set in 1930s Brighton. The title refers to a confectionary traditionally sold at seaside resorts with the name of the resort embedded in the centre and elongated down the length so the name of the resort is shown wherever the stick is broken. A First Edition, First Impression in good condition. The binding is straight if ever so slightly loose to the front boards, the boards a little darkened with age but retain their colour and the lettering on the spine is bright. There are two small tears to the top edge of the spine, wear to the bottom edge of the spine and front board and wear to all the corners. The toned end papers and pages are free from marks and tears. and remnants of a removed sticker and one small date stamp to the rear of the inside board. As a first edition first impression this book is becoming increasingly rare to find and with an original jacket, of which there are very few, sells for in excess of £60,000.
