8vo, original blue cloth with embossed titles on front and gilt titles on spine. Some marks on boards, wear, tear and chipping to spine. Previous owner's name W. N. Roper-Caldbeck dated December 1925 handwritten on front endpaper. It seems likely that this is William Noel Roper-Caldbeck who served in the British Army in the Second World War. 320pp with index, illustrated with 24 plates, included a tissue guarded frontispiece and 8 maps. Contents include: The Geography of the Himalayas, Stalking, Still Hunting, Black Bear, Burrhel, Gooral, Ibex, Kashmir Stag, Leopard, Marrkhor, Oorial, Ovis Ammon, Red Bear, Sambhur, Thar, Tibetan Antelope, General Hints on Shooting in the Himalayas, Outfit, Particulars of the Principal Himalayan States. A couple of the plates are loose and there is some chipping/ small tears to the edges off these, tear to the edges of a couple of pages. At the end of the book, on the rear endpaper and pastedown are the results of hunting at the Gawen Dak Bungalow (a post house in British Colonial times) in 1927 and also a rough sketch of the action of Kineyree 1848.
