Half leather binding, gilt titles, five raised bands, gilt lined compartments to the spine, purple cloth boards with a gilt crown and initials AC to the front board, marbled end papers. Ink and pencil marginalia throughout. A signed, ink penned letter from the Viscount and Viscountess Cowdray to Professor Douglas Simpson to the front paste down date 1926. Xiv, 170pp, and 58 numbered plates. Provenance: tipped in letter from Viscount and Viscountess Cowdray to Professor Douglas Simpson to the front, his details, to the end papers.
