Full vellum binding with string ties to close, text is in Latin. Ex Libris label on the front paste down. Unpaginated. Aged ink underlining and marginalia to many pages. Signatures: * in gathering of 4, A-Z in gatherings of 4, a-z in gatherings of 4, Aa-Hh in gatherings of 4. This title is attributed to Alonso Ruiz de Virués, ex Bishop of Islas Canarias. Alonso Ruiz de Virués was born in Olmedo, Spain 1480 and ordained a priest in the Order of Friars Minor. On 12 Aug 1538, he was appointed during the papacy of Pope Paul III as Bishop of Islas Canarias. He served as Bishop of Islas Canarias until his death on 19 January 1545. Approximately 7 ¾ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition plain spine, hand written title, creased and age toned, some loss to the bottom. Joints good condition rubbed and worn, chord ties, age toned. Corners good condition. Boards good condition wrinkled and creased full vellum boards with string ties to close. Page edges good condition top edge darkened, all tanned and foxed, ink stains or burn marks along the bottom edges. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition intact. Paste downs good condition plain yellow, recent, probably restored, the front paste down has an Ex Libris label paste to it C. Lacy-Hulbert-Powell. End papers good condition plain yellow, recent, probably restored, the front end paper has some foxing. Title good condition heavily tanned.
