A rare publication of space futurism. One of 201 copies, this is copy # 114, presented to Dr. Homer E. Newell, space scientist and Associate Administrator of NASA. This archive records the predictions sealed in a time capsule during ceremonies commemorating the fifth anniversary of the dedication of the General Dynamics | Astronautics facility. The time capsule was scheduled to be opened after 100 years on July 13, 2063, but in 1997 the San Diego building was demolished and the time capsule was nowhere to be found. The 29 contributions included predictions by astronauts John Glenn, Scott Carpenter and Wally Schirra, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, California Governor Edmund G. Brown, the widow of Robert Goddard, scientists Edward Teller, Harold Urey, Fred Whipple and William Pickering, New Mexico Senator Clinton Anderson, Brig. Gen. Irving Branch USAF (commander of the Air Force Test Center), J.R. Demsey (President of General Dynamics | Aeronautics), Hugh Dryden (Deputy Administrator NASA), Krafft Ehricke (Director of Advanced Studies General Dynamics | Aeronautics, Dr. Maurice Ewing (Director Lamont Geological Observatory Columbia University), Thomas Gerrity USAF (Deputy Chief of Staff Air Force Systems and Logistics Command), D. Brainerd Holmes (Director Office of Manned Space Flight NASA), Gerard P. Kuiper (Director Lunar and Planetary Laboratory Univ. of Arizona), George P.
