The Story of the Yarra Yarra Golf Club, located in Melbourne, Australia. This copy is SIGNED & INSCRIBED with THREE INSCRIPTIONS by various associated individuals: the author, the foreword author, & others. The three inscriptions, in blue & black ink, appear on the verso of ffep, as follows: "To Maggie with love from Bob Ham and Wyn Hill, Jack Lovett" [foreword author] / "Like the guppies that follow the ships at sea so my good thoughts will follow thee, George" [author George A. Thomson] / "To Maggie with kind regards for everything. Brian W. Billing". This copy additionally includes a Yarra Yarra Golf Club Associates CARD (dated 9/7/75) which is laid in (won by Mrs Maggie Burgess, the recipient of the various inscriptions, & who has also signed & dated the verso of title page in blue ink: "M.E. Burgess. 17.3.72"). Foreword by John R. Lovett. Numerous b&w photographs throughout. With printed lists at rear: Pennant Golf, Committee Members, Associate Members Honour Boards, Recess During War Years, Championship, plus Major Events Won by Associate Members. No date (circa 1971 with lists at rear all ending in the year 1971, & Trove dating it "1971?"). Scarce title, with Trove showing only 2 libraries in Australia holding copies. "The Yarra Yarra Golf Club is a private golf club in Australia, located in Victoria at Bentleigh East, a suburb southeast of Melbourne. It is one of the 8 Melbourne Sandbelt championship courses and is renowned for its Par 3's. It has hosted the Women's Australian Open seven times as well as several editions of the Victorian Open. The club was formed in 1898 and the current course opened 91 years ago in 1929; it is named for the Yarra River." Printed in Australia. Bound in original green boards with bright gilt lettering to front board & spine, photographic endpapers (an aerial shot of the club), in publisher's unclipped pictorial dustjacket. The dustjacket is now protected in a removable clear mylar cover.
