The author was an Ensign Pilot of a Douglas TBD-1 Devastator with Torpedo Squadron 8 on the USS Hornet at the Battle of Midway in June 1942. Shot down and wounded, he was the only survivor of his squadron. He survived in shark infested waters for thirty hours before being rescued. He saw additional action at Guadalcanal and as a combat instructor at NAS Opalocka, FL. After WWII he flew for 30 years with TWA. A clean and very presentable copy in Brodart mylar.
