And also a signed, inscribed, engraved card: (Gratefully acknowledging and thanking you for your kind expression of sympathy), reading: "Thank you […] for your thoughtfulness and kindness to us all. I want to tell you that the good jelly you brought Christmas was one of the things Travis really enjoyed, and I tried to call you shortly after, but evidently you were not at home. Of course, this is not the only thing you have done for us. I don t know how I could have got through without friends. I hope to see you soon. May God bless you- Alice L. C.".
