First edition, first printing. Near Fine condition, in a Very Good+ dust jacket. Signed by Wanda Gag at the front free end paper, inscribed to a previous owner. Tanning to front paste down and front free end paper from a newspaper clipping that was kept there, affecting Ga'g's signature. Side edge of page block has a small lightly darkened area. Oatmeal cloth covered boards with author's facsimile stamped in maroon on the front panel, maroon lettering and graphics on spine. Upper page edges are dark-tinted. Age-toning and light soil on side and lower external page edges. Several small stains on front board panel. Text pages are age-toned else internally clean. Text block is sound. Dust jacket is spiked and sunned overall, more sunned on spine and fore-edges. Significant losses at upper right corner of front jacket panel, and head and tail of jacket spine - see photos. Spine and fore-edge folds are creased and scuffed and with several rub-throughs. Old tape repairs on the reverse side on back corner at head of spine and lower edge at tail of spine. In addition to the losses referenced, there are several closed tears: 1 1/8" vertical tear at center edge of spine tail, and with an adjacent 5/8" horizontal tear; 1 7/8" diagonal tear from center edge at spine head toward the back spine fold; upper back fore-edge corner has 3/4" vertical tear along the fold; front corner at head of spine has a 1 1/4" closed vertical tear adjacent to the loss at the front corner. Also several additional closed and open tears along the upper and lower edges of front and back panels and fore-edge corners, as well as rubs, chips and creases. Not price clipped.
