Bookplate of former owner on front pasteddown, inked signature & date, 1911, on front free endpaper, some offsetting on same pages from LAID-IN newsclipping, dated August 29, 1935, from Emporia, Kansas, Newspaper, headlined: "Walt Mason's California Home Alway Open to Friends." Frontispiece Wood Engraving of Mason by Gustavus Bauman, said to be his first book Illustration. Additional Illustration of Nero fiddling by William Stevens, also cover illustration on dustjacket. INTERIOR VERY CLEAN. When this book was published, Walt Mason was called "The most widely read writer in the world today," as well as "the Poet Laureate of the American Democracy, & the high priest of horse sense. It was said that he wrote, for thousands of people, in plain, bed-rock vernacular, the very things they have been wanting to say. He wrote for a number of newspapers, including the Detroit Free Press. Apparently he was born a Canadian, had strong ties to Kansas, and was syndicated across the United States. Much on Walt Mason can be learned by googling his name. This is a VERY RARE and handsome piece of Americana. Online booksellers show only a handful of copies available, NONE with a Dustjacket and NONE that are SIGNED by the author himself. N° de ref. del artículo 500551
