Offered is a first edition, first printing of "Statement of Robert H. Lucas, Executive Director, Republican National Committee, August 16, 1930" published in 1930 by the Republican National Committee, Barr Building, Washington, D.C. A sheet measuring 8" by 9" folded once, as issued, to form four pages including front and rear covers, with each page measuring 4" by 9". Mr. Lucas writes, in short part, "As early as January of this year, the Democratic spokesmen announced their campaign issues for the November election. They said the business depression would be an issue; that unemployment would be an issue. And, of course, having selected and announced their issues, the Democratic leaders thereby attempted to make the present business depression and unemployment a political matter and put their party in direct opposition to every effort made by the Nation's Chief Executive and his administration to restore business and provide employment for all the people. Having selected the natural misfortune of the nation - the suffering of the unemployed - as a campaign issue for 1930, the Democratic leaders could not lend their support to any corrective measure without depriving their party of a battle cry for the campaign." Stamp of the "Department of Political Science - University of California - Los Angeles" to front cover. N° de ref. del artículo 014813
