The sheet shows two vertical & a central, horizontal fold from being folded for mailing, perforation mark in the upper left margin, paper clip mark, age-related tanning. Addressed to Alfred Knopf, Jr., Esq. [1919-2009] Care of The Idol, Union College, Schenectady, New York. "October 2, 1939 Dear Mr. Knopf: I am obliged for your letter. Your project sounds extremely interesting, and, although I doubt whether I shall be able to contribute anything to the magazine, I shall nevertheless watch for its appearance with interest.
