4 1/4 inches x 6 1/8 in., design for a New Year's greeting, printed on a sheet of thick, cream colored paper; Gluckliches Neujahr 1918 Max Isler, signed in pencil in the lower right margin: Max Isler. From the personal collection of Swiss-born artist and designer, Fred Rentschler, who emigrated to America in the early 1920's, and later taught at the Cleveland [Ohio] School of Art. His collection contained examples of proofs & finished pieces of bookplates, new year's greetings, book illustrations, title-page designs, initial letters, etc. mainly produced by Swiss artists & designers, ca. 1917-22, including a few of his Swiss bookplate designs.
