Leben: Phyllis Chesler, Tochter jüdischer Einwanderer aus Osteuropa, wuchs mit zwei jüngeren Brüdern in einer orthodoxen Familie in Brooklyn, New York, auf. Sie war zweimal verheiratet und hat einen Sohn, Ariel David Chesler. Seit den Sechzigerjahren ist sie aktiv für feministische Ziele tätig und eine der führenden feministischen Psychologinnen. Phyliss Chesler beschreibt sich selbst als 'radikale Feministin' und 'Befreiungspsychologin'. Sie tritt ebenso immer wieder gegen Antisemitismus ein. Einige Jahre lebte sie auch in Afghanistan und Israel. Gegenwärtig lebt sie in Manhattan, New York City.[1] Werk: Chesler unterrichtete während des Schuljahres 1969/70 eines der ersten Seminare für Frauenstudien am Richmond College in New York.
