Libro
Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Jacket design after the author Ilustrador. Revised Edition. First published in 1948, this is first edition first impression of the 3rd revised and enlarged edition of 1952. Some edge wear, chipping, closed tears and small loss to top and bottom of yellow jacket and spine, old tape marks to repairs, spine browned, corners rubbed and bruised with small loss, some darkening to extremities, some overall fingerprint and time staining, some spotting to page block, price clipped, previous owner's name in pencil to ffep, internally clean tight and almost square, overall a vg copy for its age. 495pp. This labyrinthine and extraordinary book, was the outcome of Robert Graves' (1895-1985), vast reading and curious research into strange territories of folklore, mythology, religion and magic (especially James Frazer's 'Golden Bough'). Erudite and impassioned, it is a scholar poet's quest for the meaning of European myths, a polemic about the relations between man and woman, and also an intensely personal document in which Graves explored the sources of his own inspiration and, as he believed, all true poetry. An extremely scarce book, even in this slightly later impression.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 1st Edition. First edition stated of this classic work of myth by Robert Graves. A nice clean copy in a good dustjacket. Binding is solid, square, sound. Interior is bright, clean, free of marks. Decorated cloth boards clean and firm. Dustjacket is intact but downgraded to good condition because of a 3" closed tear which runs diagonally across the front panel. There is two very small chips near the edge of the front panel by the spine. Otherwise just a bit of grubbiness and wear to the jacket, particularly at the back panel and to some degree the spine itself.
