2 vols. Large 4to. (27 x 21 cm). Contemporary full red morocco richly gilt by E. Freeman of Worcester, their binder's ticket to front pastedowns, sides ruled with prominent gilt-foliate borders and central gilt diamond design, the spines with raised bands and richly gilt-decorated compartments, gilt-lettered direct, gilt inner dentelles, yellow coated endpapers, all edges gilt. Complete with 125 of the 126 steel-engraved plates as per the listings in the volumes plus one wood-engraved vignette (including appendix, frontispieces and title vignettes). As usual lacking the third view of Berwick, being Berwick Lighthouse from the Pier; however, a not dissimilar view is used as the vignette for the title of volume two and shows the lighthouse at the entrance to Berwick harbour.* Old ownership inscriptions of B.L. Stable and Olive Stable to flyleaves. Light rubbing along extremities, generally an excellent copy in superb morocco bindings. *We have traced numerous other copies lacking this plate, which was possibly never issued, or perhaps conflated with the title-vignette. The work was begun by the Findens, engravers, and in consequence is often known as Finden's Ports & Harbours.
