First edition, first printing, French esition printed in France, but with English text throughout. From its unassuming architecture to its derisive appellation, Malmasion held little promise of being "such a rich source of inspiration to so many artists of the early nineteenth century" until it was bought by Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie in 1799, already the wife of General Napoleon and soon to be Empress of the French. A wonderfully illustrated edition, by various artists, of a remarkably transformed property. No previous ownership marks. A clean, square, fresh and unmarked copy, like new. Fine. A large book, Priority and International orders will require additional postage, charged art actual cost.
