1952-1st ed, h/c, 190pp, 19x13, has a 'Ballarat Mechanics institute' stamp and 'disposed of' to the title page, pasted down worn and scuffed d/j cover to front board, titles are quite clear, has new front and rear end papers, re backed with new spine and old spine titles, author and spurs relayed over the top, wear and stains to quite a few page borders, two small pen markings to first two pages, small 31142 written on left side of title page, corner scuffs. The repairs are quite tasteful and the binding strong. Old Hopalong has seen better days, although having the original cover pasted down makes it a half decent 1st ed. As it displays on the d/j cover,"This is a New, Full Length Novel, Never Before Published". Giddy up!.

This book, along with three others were written by Louis L'Amour under the pseudonym Tex Burns -- while L'Amour refused to acknowledge authorship of this group of books, he couldn't get away from the fans who saw through the pseudonym to the quality writing that drove the books. These pseudonymous books were the first four hardback novels published by L'Amour. "Louis Dearborn L'Amour (22 March 1908 10 June 1988) was an American novelist and short story writer. His books consisted primarily of Western novels (though he called his work 'frontier stories') ; however, he also wrote historical fiction (The Walking Drum) , science fiction (The Haunted Mesa) , non-fiction (Frontier) , as well as poetry and short-story collections. Many of his stories were made into film. John Wayne once said he was the most interesting man in the world. L'Amour's books remain popular and most have gone through multiple printings. At the time of his death almost all of his 105 existing works (89 novels, 14 short-story collections, and two full-length works of nonfiction) were still in print, and he was considered "one of the world's most popular writers."
