Original o primera edición
20.5x13.8 cm, pp. [1-3] 4-7 [8], folded woodcut map, printed self wrappers. First edition. A prospectus for the Union Pacific Railroad Co.'s first mortgage bonds. Includes a summary of the line's progress to date, projected time for completion (estimated to be sometime in 1870), and projected return to investors. The detailed woodcut map, "Map of the Union Pacific Railroad and its Connections" (20.5x53 cm), shows the central portion of the U.S. from Ohio and Kentucky west to the Pacific Ocean, with the Union Pacific line stretching boldly across the prairies and mountains, running south of the Great Salt Lake, and meeting its western rival at the California-Nevada border, hundreds of miles west of the actual meeting point at Promontory, Utah. Self wrappers detached, removed from a pamphlet bind-up, a very good copy. Enclosed in a custom orange buckram clamshell box with black morocco spine label, titled in gilt. (#166359).
