Publicado por Eastside Ministerial Alliance, Co-sponsoring James Europe Post 157, the American Legion, (Oklahoma City, OK), 1964
Librería: Bartleby's Books, ABAA, Chevy Chase, MD, Estados Unidos de America
Original o primera edición
First edition (?). 4to. 28 pp. Illustrated from photographs, portraits. Up until 1960 the American Legion posts in Oklahoma were segregated; this pamphlet, with many congratulatory letters from state and federal offices, celebrates, in part, the removal of separate categories for "white" and "black" posts from the state legion constitution. Issued not long after President Kennedy's assassination, it's major thrust, however, encourages all Oklahoma posts, but particularly the African-American James Europe post in Oklahoma City, to get behind a "Back to God" movement sponsored by the national organization. James Europe, for whom the Oklahoma City post was named, was a major figure in jazz during the early years of the 20th century, led a regimental band during World War I, and was stabbed to death by one of his band members in 1919. Printed at head of front wrapper: "One Nation, Under God, with LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL." Not in Blockson catalogue. Not recorded on OCLC. Small American flag affixed to front wrapper, three words of text crossed through in ink, else very good. Original illustrated cream wrappers, printed in blue, stapled. (#6715).

Short voliume of satirical and humorous poems and lyrics, reflecting the bawdy preoccupation of Czech Legion soldiers in Siberia. Klepá? later returned to Czechoslovakia and would publish a volume of recollections as a prisoner of the Russians, as well as other literary works about his experience in exile. As of January 2024, KVK, OCLC show three copies (Slovenia, Nanterre, British Library).

[Chicago]: Pontiac Press, [1939]. 64pp. Pamphlet. Approx. 8¾ x 5¾ inches. Vibrant color-lithographed pictorial wraps; stapled. Numerous half tone portraits and illustrations; maps. Ephemera laid in include a printed circular letter and two 4-page convention brochures. Near fine. Official illustrated program of the 1939 annual convention of the patriotic military veterans' organization, The American Legion. Held in Chicago, the convention brochure by artist Joe E. Sewell depicts the iconic Chicago Water Tower, the city's fabled skyscrapers, and a female heroic figure representing "Chicago" holding a staff with the city's motto, "I will." Ephemera laid in includes a circular letter of welcome from the American Legion's national commander, a brochure listing military unit reunion information (including reunions for women), and a brochure listing 13 industrial tours available to convention goers. The latter tours included visits to the Atlas, Peter Fox, Schlitz, and United States Brewing Companies. Twelve pages of half tone views of Chicago depict convention hotels; street, river, and lake views; sports venues; churches; museums; and the city's legendary stock yards. In remarkable condition. OCLC 853453022, 1 copy (U. Ill.).

Irkutsk: Tiskem Informa?n?-osv?tového odboru ?eskoslovenského vojska na Rusi, 1919. Octavo (17.2 × 10.5 cm). Publisher's printed wrappers; 32 pp. Very good. This pamphlet reproduces the (slightly abridged) stenographic report of the first parliamentary meeting of the free Czechoslovak National Assembly in November of 1918, after it had formally proclaimed independence from Austro-Hungary in October of 1918. It was issued as volume ten of the important series of supplements to the Czech Legion newspaper "Czechoslovvak Daily." After the treaty of Brest-Litovsk effectively closed the Eastern Front, the Legion forces found themselves on the side of the imperiled Tsarist troops as they moved East to Vladivostok and to transport ships bound for home. At one time, the Czech Legion controlled the majority of the Trans-Siberian Railway and significantly aided the White Russian forces during combat. Their effort on behalf of the White army was seen as benefiting their goal of an independent Czech state as propagated by Masaryk, free from Austro-Hungarian rule. This book is among a range of works which were printed in transit, at the mobile printing shop of the Legion troops in their armored train, evidently somewhere between Irkutsk and points further east. With a brief explanatory note by the publishers on the last page. As of January 2024, KVK and OCLC show five copies in Europe, but none in North America.
