Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Very good in very good dust jacket. SIGNED and inscribed 'Toward Justice and Freedom' by editor Hanrahan on title page (no personalization). 1st edition, 1st printing, complete number line. Dust jacket has slight edgewear. Audience: General/trade. Book has bumping to the cap and base of the spine and corners and has a sticker-removal scar on the front pastedown. The compact disc of banned radio commentaries mentioned on the front of the jacket is missing. Abu-Jamal is an activist, ex-Black Panther, and radio journalist (former president of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists) who spent 30 years on death row for the murder of a police officer until his sentence was commuted to life without parole. He published an essay in the Yale Law Journal, on the death penalty and his death row experience, after which hewas engaged by National Public Radio's 'All Things Considered' program to deliver a series of monthly three-minute commentaries on crime and punishment. The broadcast plans and commercial arrangement were canceled following condemnations from, among others, the Fraternal Order of Police and US Senator Bob Dole. Later broadcasts for Pacifica Network's 'Democracy Now! ' were aired. He is the author of 'Prisoner of Conscience' and 'Live From Death Row'. Rare signed. Where possible, all books come with dust jacket in a clear protective plastic sleeve, sealed in a ziplock bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, shipped in a box. Signed by Author(s).
