First American Edition. book states henry holt and company. the foot of the dust jacket states farrar, straus and cudahy. interesting. the book was originally published in france in 1927. translated into english in 1947. and published in america by henry holt. i 52 mauriac gets the nobel prize for literature. it looks like farrar, straus and young got the balane of the holt books published in 1947. then farrar re-released the holt book with a new farrar straus and cudahy dust jacket. at least that appears to be what happened.
