First edition of the author's classic fourth novel. Thick octavo, original half cloth. Association copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "For Bill Burroughs- With love and good wishes Stephen King 9/20/94." The recipient, William Burroughs is credited as a primary figure of the Beat Generation and a major postmodern author who influenced popular culture and literature. His writings had a strong influence on King as an adolescent and young man. As a English major at the University of Maine, King was taught by instructors who consciously identified with the beat movement. Burroughs was also impressed by the writings of King and in the summer of 1979 discussed King's The Shining as part of the NAROPA lectures on â Creative Reading." Fine in a near fine dust jacket. Jacket illustration by John Cayea. From the library of William Burroughs. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box by the Harcourt Bindery. An exceptional association linking two great writers of the last half of the twentieth century. "I love to burn things up," King says. "It's the werewolf in me, I guess. The Stand was particularly fulfilling, because there I got a chance to scrub the whole human race, and man, it was fun! . Much of the compulsive, driven feeling I had while I worked on The Stand came from the vicarious thrill of imagining an entire entrenched social order destroyed in one stroke." "There is much to admire in The Stand: the vivid thumbnail sketches with which King populates a whole landscape with dozens of believable characters; the deep sense of nostalgia for things left behind; the way it subverts our sense of reality by showing us a world we find familiar, then flipping it over to reveal the darkness underneath. Anyone who wants to know, or claims to know, the heart of the American experience needs to read this book" (Fiona Webster). It was the basis for the 1994 American television miniseries. King also wrote the teleplay and had a minor role in the series. It was directed by Mick Garris and stars Gary Sinise, Miguel Ferrer, Rob Lowe, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Jamey Sheridan, Laura San Giacomo, Molly Ringwald, Corin Nemec, Adam Storke, Ray Walston, and Matt Frewer.

Hardcover. Condición: Near fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near fine. First Edition. One of King's best novels, an apocalyptic book about the near-extinction of the human race. 823 pages. First edition (first printing, a stated "First Edition" and yes, there is the code T39 on page 823, which is not a point of issue, all copies that state "first editions" have that code). Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with the $12.95 price. This is a very nice copy, inscribed by King, "For Barry-hoped you liked this tale of love and horror beyond the end of the world-Stephen King. 4/22/83." This is King's typical good inscription in The Stand and you won't find many nicer copies.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Stephen King (1978) The Stand , US first edition, first printing, published by Doubleday. Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: For Stephen | thanks fro dropping | by! | Stephen King | 8/13/80 . As shown King has applied his charismatic swirl not only to his own name but also to his name cousin which makes this an unusual inscription indeed. Housed in an aftermarket magnetic solander case. The book has been authenticated by a third-party agency and comes with the corresponding paperwork, although there is no doubt that the signature and inscription are genuine. Condition: a very good to near fine book in a near fine dust jacket. There are no previous owners scribbles, no names, no stamps. The boards are nice and clean, the book square. The cloth spine displays a little rubbing as shown and there is a crease to the top cloth just above Stephen . A few shallow brown stains to top and bottom page block. Fore edge is nice. The first pages lightly crinkled to top as shown, likely from a production flaw. Internally clean. The dust jacket is NOT price clipped. A nice specimen of a landmark King book. Beautifully inscribed to his name cousin with the famous Stephen swirl. One of 70,000 copies printed with all first issue points present: First Edition statement on the copyright page and T39 gutter code in the margins of the last page. The dust jacket is correctly priced at USD 12.95. Adapted as a TV-series in 1994, and once more in 2019/20. Considered by many King fans as his best novel. Gained almost prophetic qualities following the Covid-19 pandemic. B First and Fine. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First edition. Octavo. Near fine with some light bumping and rubbing at the edges in very good dust jacket with a few small stains on the rear panel, three neat piece of tape to the interior and moderate edgewear including short tears, nicks and small creases. A relative fresh and square copy of a book which seldom survives in this condition. Most copies suffer adversely from the poor manufacturing employed by Doubleday in the late 1970s, and by the size and weight of the book itself. Basis for the 1994 television miniseries with Gary Sinese, Ruby Dee, and Rob Lowe, as well as the 2020 adaptation starring Whoopi Goldberg, Alexander Skarsgård, and J. K. Simmons.

A very handsome copy bound in finely woven black cloth spine stamped brightly in gold lettering; and tan paper-covered boards. First edition statement on the copyright page. Exceptionally clean and tight throughout; virtually unread and unopened. The dust jacket did its job very well. In a very good minus dust jacket, heavily chipped at the top and bottom of the spine ends. With a 1" closed vertical tear at the top center of the front panel. A serviceable dust jacket with the price of $12.95 at the top of the inside front flap. A decent place-holding copy of Stephen King's post-apocalyptic masterpiec which is becoming scarce. The Stand is a post-apocalyptic dark fantasy novel written by American author Stephen King and first published in 1978 by Doubleday. The plot centers on a deadly pandemic of weaponized influenza and its aftermath, in which the few surviving humans gather into factions that are each led by a personification of either good or evil and seem fated to clash with each other. King started writing the story in February 1975,[1] seeking to create an epic in the spirit of The Lord of the Rings. The book was difficult for him to write because of the large number of characters and storylines. In 1990, The Stand was reprinted as a Complete and Uncut Edition. King restored over 400 pages from texts that were initially reduced from his original manuscript, revised the order of the chapters, shifted the novel's setting from 1980 to 10 years forward, and accordingly corrected a number of cultural references. The Complete and Uncut Edition of The Stand is Stephen King's longest stand-alone work at 1,152 pages, surpassing his 1,138-page novel It. The book has sold 4.5 million copies. (Wikipedia) First Edition with "First Edition" statement on the copyright page.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Has two marks on the inside of the dust jacket that appear to be from previous gluing. Also slightly darkened on the top and bottom of the front of dust jacket.(more prominent on bottom) However, the protective layer is very well maintained except for a few tears, only a very small one during doubleday. The book is fresh inside without stains or female ears. The boards have some stains on the outside. The boards also have a few tear marks. Little wear far down the spine between the spine and the boards down on the binding. However, only a little. The binding is good and fits together clearly. A good book with a very well-kept dust jacket is unusual for this first edition.
