Paperback. Condición: Very Good+. Reprint; 4th Printing. This is a trade paperback book with illustrated cardstock covers and a glued spine. The book is in Very Good + condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some light bumping and rubbing. The text pages and inside covers have some generalized toning. "L'Engle determined to give up writing on her 40th birthday (November 1958) when she received yet another rejection notice. "With all the hours I spent writing, I was still not pulling my own weight financially." Soon she discovered both that she could not give it up and that she had continued to work on fiction subconsciously. The family returned to New York City in 1959 so that Hugh could resume his acting career. The move was immediately preceded by a ten-week cross-country camping trip, during which L'Engle first had the idea for her most famous novel, A Wrinkle in Time, which she completed by 1960. It was rejected more than thirty times before she handed it to John C. Farrar; it was finally published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux in 1962. " (from Wikipedia); Vol. 2.

Hardcover in dust jacket. Condición: Very Good. First Edition; First Printing. This book is hard-bound in green cloth, with gilt stamping to the spine, in a price-clipped dust jacket with some soiling, foxing and light edge-wear. There is a stain to the center of the upper panel of the dust jacket which is barely visible on the upper cover. The covers show some light edge-wear. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and clean. This book is signed/inscribed by the author Madeleine L'Engle on the title-page. There is a TLs (Typed Letter Signed) by Madeleine L'Engle, laid-in at the front. From the collection of Cuthbert Christian Thambimuttu (1945-2019) of Columbus, Ohio - known to many of his bookseller, author, and illustrator friends as "Tubby." He was persistent in the pursuit of autographed books by the writers and artists he admired, including Gorey, Sendak, Heaney, Byatt, Morrison, Updike and many more. Joseph Heller once wrote to Tubby in response to one more "please sign and return" request: "This is turning out to be a hell of a lot of work!" All signed books unconditionally guaranteed to be authentic. Many of the books are inscribed to both Cuthbert and his great friend of more than two decades Antonia Gale Moss. ; Signed by Author.
