Libro
Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 2nd Edition. Second impression, July 1957, of book originally published earlier the same year. Octavo, pp 165, illustrated from photographs. Bound in red cloth covered hard boards and in the original un-clipped dust jacket. SIGNED and inscribed to the title page: "for Francis! with every kind wish | Jan Morris 2002". The recipient of the inscription was Lady Francis Clarke, CBE (neé Molyneux) co-founder and co-president of the Venice in Peril Fund and wife of Sir Ashley Clarke, British Ambassador to Italy (1953-1962). Clarke had marked the book when she first owned it to the ffep: "F.P. Molyneux, August 1957", and had Jan Morris sign and inscribe it 45 years later. Sultan of Oman, a story of Said bin Taimur, is Morris second book. Near Fine condition book, marred only by some rust residue on the ffep from a paper clip, in a Good only jacket which is chipped at spine ends and has old tape residue to the verso. Although a second impression of the book it is much enhanced by the inscription of two people both closely associated with the city of Venice.
