Interior with library bookplate, title page, frontis, and several interior pages with perforating blind stamp from library. Hinges arhivally repaired. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Organized in late 1861 if fought in all the major engagements with the Army of the Potomac and later the Army of the Shenandoah. The regiment lost 11 Officers and 161 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded. REFERENCES: DORNPA 245; NEVINS I pg 128: "Written by a staff officer with a strong penchant for detail, this work embodies everything from newspaper extractions and personal recollections two anecdotes and official dispatches; for the most part, the history is reliable." CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: This regiment was organized in Lebanon, Pennsylvania in late 1861. The regiment fought in more than 16 major battles, including Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Spotsylvania, Opequon, Fisher s Hill and the breakthrough at Petersburg, as well as numerous other skirmishes and actions. The 93rd would be a part of the Army of the Potomac s 6th Army Corps for most of its service. It is recognized as one of the FOX 300 Fighting Regiments. A very well-done history, here in very nice, clean, and bright condition. REFERENCES: DORN PA 245; NEVINS I pg 128: "Written by a staff officer with a strong penchant for detail, this work embodies everything from newspaper extractions and personal recollections to anecdotes and official dispatches; for the most part, the history is reliable." FOX 300 pg 284: "The regiment was in the hottest of the fight at Fair Oaks, where it displayed remarkable steadiness under fire." EISNER #1085: The author recalls the story of a unit that served in the eastern theater. Mark, a captain of the 93rd Pennsylvania Infantry draws on the O.R., correspondence from members of the regiment some of which was published in the Lebanon Courier), and the newspaper account from a variety of Pennsylvania dailies. .
