Hablar de Tarteso es hacerlo de una de las civilizaciones más enigmáticas y trascendentales de la Antigüedad, una cultura que habitó en la península ibérica entre los siglos VIII y IV a. C. y que sigue cautivando a historiadores y arqueólogos. Ubicada en la región suroeste de la península, más allá de las columnas de Hércules, territorio que en la actualidad abarcarían Sevilla, Cádiz y Huelva, fue un pueblo híbrido compuesto por autóctonos y viajantes fenicios, diversidad que se vio reflejada en sus creencias religiosas y prácticas rituales. Su riqueza se fundamentaba en el comercio de metales, en particular la plata, así como en la habilidad artesanal que se evidencia en los objetos descubiertos en yacimientos como el asombroso sitio arqueológico de Casas del Turuñuelo. Son precisamente los hallazgos arqueológicos realizados en este yacimiento en los últimos años los que han reavivado en interés general por esta cultura de origen mítico. Un interés que comenzó a principios del siglo XX gracias al arqueólogo alemán Adolf Schulten, cuyas excavaciones y descubrimientos otorgaron a Tarteso el misticismo que hoy en día aún rodea a todo lo relacionado con esta rica cultura ibérica. Un halo misterioso que ha llegado a dotarla de un toque legendario y a relacionarla con la mismísima Atlántida; nada más lejos de la realidad. En este volumen, diversos arqueólogos y expertos nos invitan a conocer la verdad sobre la cultura tartésica a través de los últimos descubrimientos, para poner límite a las fabulaciones aportando una visión global fundamentada en las fuentes griegas y en los más recientes descubrimientos arqueológicos.
