All-American Notre Dame football star of the 1930s, known as "The Mighty Mink," scored eight touchdowns on 503 yards rushing in 1932 and six touchdowns in 1934. PS of sorts, 4" X 5 3/4", n.p., n.d. Very good. Modern (1984) photocopy of a Robert Ripley-type newspaper sports cartoon of the type so popular in the '20s and '30s, this one by a cartoonist named Burnley and headlined "The 'Irish' Powerhouse," depicting "The Mighty Mink" running with the ball; smaller inset image shows him barreling through an opposing player (who yells "Hey, stop"), with the caption "He is one of those irresistable forces that has yet to meet an 'immovable object.'" Boldly signed by Melinkovich in green ink. Accompanied by an ANS, lined 5" X 3" card, n.p., n.d. [1984]. Brief note to a fan, remarking "It's been 52 years since I played.".
