Paperback. Condición: Very Good. Peter Pan made his first appearance (as a baby) in "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens" (1906). Subsequently the famous play in which he is the boy hero of Neverland was retold in prose in "Peter and Wendy" (1911). This volume prints both these original texts - which were Barrie's only works for children - with notes. This volume should be of particular interest to students of children's literature and "popular" literature, as well as parents. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Jacket and illustrations by Arthur Rackham Ilustrador. Reprint. First published in this form in 1929, this is an eleventh impression of 1945. Some edge wear, chipping, small loss and creased closed tears to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners and folds rubbed, long closed tear to front inside flap, some overall dust and time staining but overall jacket quite bright and unsunned, not price clipped (4/6), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and almost square, overall a vg copy for its age. 123pp, front map endpaper, five colour plates and illustrations in the text. Sir James Matthew Barrie, 1st Baronet (1860-1937), was a Scottish novelist and playwright, best remembered as the creator of Peter Pan. He was born and educated in Scotland and then moved to London, where he wrote a number of successful novels and plays. There he met the Llewelyn Davies boys, who inspired him to write about a boy who has magical adventures in Kensington Gardens, then to write 'Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up', a 1904 'fairy play' about an ageless boy and an ordinary girl named Wendy who have adventures in the fantasy setting of Neverland. Although he continued to write successfully, Peter Pan overshadowed his other work, and is credited with popularising the name Wendy. Barrie unofficially adopted the Davies boys following the deaths of their parents. Before his death, he gave the rights to the Peter Pan works to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, which continues to benefit from them. Mary Clarissa 'May' Byron (1861-1936), was a British writer and poet, best known for her adaptations of J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan books. Quite scarce with jacket, even in this later impression.
