Hardcover. Condición: Good. Many, many score photographic illustrations made by the author from her own photography on location make this a particularly fetching little set, a perfectly serviceable set, of seven reading copies of Madeline Brandeis's beloved children's books from the Children of Many Lands series: The Little Mexican Donkey Boy; The Little Swiss Wood-Carver; The Wee Scotch Piper; Little Rose of the Mesa; Little Tony of Italy; Carmen of the Golden Coast; and The Little Indian Weaver; nothing fancy, but complete and bound sturdily in blue paper over boards, illustrated, with blue cloth tape backing them. Moderately soiled and worn of exterior panels, tips, edges, but clean of interior but for a couple of torn pages and a bit of soiling to endpapers and a few penciled marks from the youngsters' comments inside front flaps, e.g., "This is a good book!" Small dealer stamps inside rear flaps at top near spines. Brandeis was born as Madeline Frank in San Francisco in 1897 and lived only 40 years but was best known for her "Children of America" and "Children of All Lands" series of books. These fictional stories included photographs taken by her but employing child actors as the books' characters.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
