Libro
Green Cloth Hardback. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fair-Good. Second (cheap) Edition. 1947. Second (cheap) edition. xvi, 443pp. This book tells the history of 800 years of the Irish people's struggles for freedom. It takes the reader from the arrival of English settlers in the Middle ages up to the present day - the struggle in the words of James Fintan Lalor, to make "Ireland her own, and all therein, from the sod to the sky". The author describes this book as 'An Outline History of the Irish struggle for National Freedom and Independence', but it is much more than that, and is the only book in which, right from the beginning and throughout it's pages, the economic factors are placed in a proper perspective alongside of and intermingled with the political. The book describes the conquest and the first steps taken by England towards Empire in the 12th Century and brings the reader up to the partition of Ireland in the early 1920's. T. A Jackson was born in London in 1879 and served an apprenticeship as a printer He was known as a radical socialist, a prolific, lively and witty writer for left wing press he wrote a number of books. His other books include Dialectics: The Logic of Marxism, Charles Dickens: The Progress of a Radical, Trials of British Freedom, Socialism: What? Why? How?, Solo Trumpet, Old Friends To Keep. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with a little bubbling to the cloth on the front board and slight warping to the rear board with some bubbling to the cloth near the spine edge. The spine ends are bumped. The contents are tight and clean with a name and address faintly written on the front fixed endpaper. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some soiling and foxing and the spine is browned. Up to about 1" is missing from a large part of the top edge. There are several tears of up to about 1" on the edges and the larger of these have been repaired on the reverse with tape. The wrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover.

Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. 1st Edition. xvi+443pp 215x140mm original cloth with dust-jacket. Contemporary name and date on front free end paper. A most attractive copy of the first edition of this hugely influential marxist account of the Irish struggle against English imperialist aggression, with a complete and unblemished dust-jacket. The author charmingly admits in his foreword that, "I write frankly as a partisan. I have done my best to be candid; but impartiality is beyond my scope." This is the first printing, of the first edition, with a complete and undamaged dust jacket, which is very rare in this status and condition.
