Green cloth covers with gold gilt lettering on spine and front cover with a beautiful gold gilt design of a Indian basket on the front cover. All in fine condition. Covers exhibit bumping on top and bottom edges of front cover. Light wear and fraying to corners and spine ends. One small tear on front edge of front cover. Light shelf wear and soiling to covers. Yellowing and light soiling to page ends, inside front and back covers, ffep and bfep. Text is slightly yellowed due to age. Otherwise clean and unmarked. Hinges are tight. Previous owners signature on title page. The first half of the book is Indian Basketry. This shows the history of basket making and how Native Americans developed the art. The second half of the book shows how to make the baskets and other baskets. Very detailed with many b&w photos and illustrations. All of our books are individually inspected and described. Never ex-lib unless explicitly described as such.

Original publisher's green cloth binding with gilt lettering and a beautiful gilt decoration of a woven basket on the front cover. 6 1/4" x 9 1/4." [1]-271, advertisement, [1]-136, [8], complete. Many black and white illustrations, complete. The eight pages in the back contain advertisements for the Basket Fraternity and "Indian trading stores," an Index, and the list of illustrations for "How to Make Indian and Other Baskets." The first title also has a list of illustrations as well as an Index and Appendix. Pages and covers are virtually pristine and intact. Slight corner wear and wear at the head and tail of the spine. A Fine copy. Pages [1]-271 comprise "Indian Basketry." The latter half of the book, Pages [1]-136, comprise "How to Make Indian and Other Baskets."
