Condición: Fair+. First. Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. (1809 - 894) was an American physician, poet, and polymath based in Boston. Grouped among the fireside poets, he was acclaimed by his peers as one of the best writers of the day. His most famous prose works are the "Breakfast-Table" series, which began with The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table (1858). He was also an important medical reformer. In addition to his work as an author and poet, Holmes also served as a physician, professor, lecturer, inventor, and, although he never practiced it, he received formal training in law. This volume contains two of his lectures on the absurdities of homeopathy. The book is fair+, with brown cloth spine on brown paper-covered boards and with the title on a paper label on the spine. The spine is nearly worn away, and the boards are scuffed, but the binding is solid. The endpapers are slightly age darkened and soiled, but the text overall is clean and unmarked. There is a name label on the front pastedown of a previous owner, Stephen H. Wakeman. No other marks or damage. .

Paper-Covered Boards. Condición: Very Good-. First Edition. Original boards with paper label to spine. Dampstain to cover, mild foxing throughout, as usual. Paper label chipped (but still barely legible), leather spine cover heavily chipped and worn.
