Born in Dublin, the Anglo-Irish novelist James Hanley (1897-1985) received critical aclaim from the likes of T.E. Lawrence, E.M. Forster, William Faulkner, and Anthony Burgess. This is a Near Fine copy of the First American Edition of what would become a four-volume series of autobiographical novels. Bright red cloth binding with gilt titling on the spine. Clean text; 549 pages. Some staining to the front free endpaper, which also has two small letters by a previous owner. Else, a Fine copy. The dustjacket is Very Good Plus.
