The Methuen facsimile editions of the four folios, offered here together as a set: the first folio, in facsimile from the edition of 1623 (Methuen 1910); the second folio, in facsimile from the edition of 1932 (Methuen 1909); the third folio, in facsimile from the edition of 1664 (Methuen 1905); and the fourth folio, in facsimile from the edition of 1685 (Methuen 1904). All volumes ex-library, denoted by spine call numbers and bookplates to endpapers. Pale blue linen-backed boards with printed paper label on spine. Pages uncut, some pages unopened. All volumes shelfworn generally, foxed, toned, with creased endpapers, with peeling paper labels, and with badly cracked hinges. Additional flaws follow. First folio: lacks the tissue guard opposite portrait; extensive pencil marginalia and some red ink notations; hinges heavily worn, torn, and frayed; a 3.5 x 2.5 inch portion of a page from Hamlet has been razor-bladed out and removed. Second folio: tissue guard opposite portrait creased; portions of four leaves have been razor-bladed out and removed, the largest of which is 5 x 4 inches. Third folio: tissue guard opposite frontispiece portrait creased and detached (but present), spine cracked between pages 524 and 525. Fourth folio: tissue guard missing, spine cracked at midway point of volume.
