This MSS. was completed in 1933 immediately after she completed THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF ALICE B. TOKLAS. The piece on George Washington was written earlier and completed in 1931. This material was published posthumously and is based on the typewritten MSS. prepared by Miss Toklas in 1933. That MSS. was partially corrected by Miss Stein. It has been collated here with the original autograph MSS. which Miss Stein sent to the Yale Library in 1946 , only a few weeks before her death.
